October 2003 - If you have visited Aruba before you will agree with me
that Aruba is indeed a star in the Caribbean.
Its impeccable white sandy beaches, diverse activities and the most important - hospitable people are the value of this unique Dutch Caribbean island to be extended to its visitors.
That is not the only reason to be happy, because the statistical data
showed that matters did improve for Aruba compared to 1997. It only got better!
According to a survey conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics,
the average expenditure of a cruise passenger was US$ 63,88 in 1997 and in 2002
it rose to US$ 112,11
The primary cruise market for Aruba is the US market, which was
represented in 1997 by 68.2% and decreased to 58.8% in 2002.
The results also indicated that the European market, the second largest
cruise passenger share was represented by 11.9% of the total market share in
1997 and in 2002 it rose to 18.8%
A trend in the traveling pattern was also recorded when in 1997 more couples traveled compared to parties of four, which was indicated by 75.5% and 7.9%, respectively, however this pattern shifted in 2002 where couples decreased to 70.6% and traveling in party of four increased to 10.7%
Cruise Tourism Authority / Aruba Cruise Tourism registered 297,650 cruise passengers in 1997and in 2002 582,195 cruise passengers were registered.
