Discover the other natural bridges of
Aruba
Aruba has
it origin in volcanic activity some 90 to 95 million years ago.
Magma flowed out to the surface from
cracks in the earth’s crust and created three main rock groups to be found on
Aruba.
The Igneous rocks, formed from cooling and
solidification of magma; the Metamorphic Rock, formed from a previous existing
rock and transformed due to high temperatures and pressure; and the sedimentary
rock, formed as the result deposition of material derived from other rocks.
The crust of the earth is broken up in
different plates, which move with respect to each other, called plate
tectonics.
The youngest rocks on Aruba are limestone,
which surround the old core of the island. The rainwater sank through the
ground, dissolved the limestone in the limestone plateau, giving way to the
formation of sharp peaks on the plateau. The waves and wind however, are giving
the bridge its beautiful carved bow.
Aruba’s
popular natural bridge, formed after centuries of pounding waves and
rain collapsed and fell into the Caribbean Sea on Sept. 2.
This rock bridge of100 feet long and 25
feet high, was formed from coral limestone on Aruba's windy, rugged northern
coast turned in one of Aruba's most treasured and photographed tourist attraction
in the Caribbean.
Visitors to Aruba can still appreciate the
other unique natural landmarks Aruba possesses, like the baby bridge at the
original natural bridge site and the natural bridge at Warirui Beach, a bit
north of Bushiribana Gold mine ruins.
Other landmark highlights are the uniquely
carved by mother-nature into threesome unified bows are the bridges at Black
Stone Beach, further south of Andicuri Beach and at Seroe Colorado a bit east
of Baby Beach.
Aruba welcomes you to explore and cherish
